Tom and I arrived in Mumbai yesterday after a 15 hour flight from Newark, stayed at the Leela Hotel in Mumbai last night, and were driven to Pune today. We took a walk past the Iyengar Institute, which is closed on Sundays. It was a surreal experience to stand outside the gates.
We are experiencing total culture shock. We have seen monkeys on the highway in the mountains traveling to Pune, as well as cows, goats and pigs in city streets. The poverty and living conditions of many is stunning. And yet, I am inspired to make the most of this journey.
We met some other yoga friends tonight and had dinner. I start at the Institue tomorrow morning.

Classes will continue at the Yoga Loft while I am in Pune. The schedule and substitute teachers will be posted on my website soon.
